Transfer Stations

Westlock County provides four Waste Transfer Stations for County Residents. Waste Transfer Stations are not Landfills, but holding areas where waste is stored on a temporary basis until it is trucked to the Westlock Regional Landfill. The Waste Transfer Station attendant has the right to refuse large loads. Please take large loads directly to the Westlock Regional Landfill. All users must obtain a permit from the County Office before accessing a Waste Transfer Station.

Can I Bring Recycling to the Transfer Sites?

Household recycling (plastics, paper, cardboard, cans, electronics such as TV, computers, etc.) is not currently accepted at the Transfer Sites. These materials must be brought to the Westlock Regional Landfill. We are looking into alternative means of providing recycling services to our residents in a manner which is both budget and environmentally conscious.

Can I Bring Burnable Materials to the Transfer Sites?

Typically, materials such as non-treated wood and brush are accepted at transfer sites. During periods of fire bans or restrictions the burn piles may become large enough that additional materials cannot be accepted. As this may be required without advance notice, please contact our office at 780-349-3346 to confirm before bringing large loads.

What Can I Take to the Landfill?
