Wildland Fire Update

Wildfire Update 16, May 13 @1:30PM
Westlock County has terminated the State of Local Emergency (SOLE) as of 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Firefighters may still monitoring the areas for hotspots.
Thank you to all emergency personnel for your hard work, and thank you to residents for your understanding.
If residents or property owners see smoke or hotspots in the areas, please call the County office at 780-349-3346.
 
Wildfire Update 15, May 12 @1:00PM
We are able to return to regular operations. The areas will still be monitored by firefighters and both fires are still classified as under control.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the AESRD crews and our Westlock County firefighters who have been working tirelessly to bring these wildfires under control. Your unwavering commitment during this challenging time are truly admirable.
We also want to extend our gratitude to the residents for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time. By staying away from the affected areas, you’ve allowed our members to focus on their crucial work.
Emergency personnel will still be in the affected areas today, and into tomorrow, to continue to check for hotspots.
Our final update will be tomorrow, May 13, 2025 at 1:00PM.

Both fires in Westlock County are listed as Under Control.
AESRD ground crews are on scene still assisting our firefighters in actioning hot spots.
Residents are still asked to remain out of the area. Reminder to any local traffic through the area, to slow down when passing emergency personnel.
Our next update will be tomorrow, May 12, 2025 at 1:00PM.

Wildfire Update 11, May 8 @2:00PM

Both fires in Westlock County are now listed as Under Control.

AESRD ground crews are on scene still assisting our firefighters in actioning the fires. We are continuing to request residents remain out of the area so crews can continue operations.

We will be transitioning to daily updates, given the status of the fires now. Residents are still encouraged to check back here for our daily updates. Westlock County appreciates the continued support from residents by remaining out of the area. Our next update will be tomorrow, May 9, 2025 at 1:00PM.

 

Wildfire Update 10, May 8 @11:00AM
The fire located from Twp Rd 630 between Rge Rd 261 and Rge Rd 255 (LCU007) is still currently being held. Fire crews are still in the area checking for hot spots, please stay out of the area so they can work.
The fire South of Fawcett, located South of highway 44 between Rge Rd 11 and Rge Rd 13 (LCU006) is still currently being held. Fire crews are still in the area checking for hot spots, please stay out of the area so they can work.
AESRD ground crews are on scene assisting in actioning the fire. The fires are not expected to grow in size. We are continuing to request residents remain out of the area so crews can continue operations.
We will continue provide updates, our next one will be scheduled for today, May 8, 2025 at 2:00PM. Please continue to check back here for further updates.
