Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
The documenting of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), also called a Personal Information Bank (PIB), identifies what information about an identifiable individual is held by a public body.
It is, in essence, a summary of the personal information our County has, why it is collected, and the purpose of its use.
Under the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), Section 57, a PII directory must include:
- The title and location of the PII
- A description of the kind of personal information and categories of individuals whose personal information is included.
- The authority for the collection.
- The purposes for which it was collected or compiled, and the purposes for which it is used or disclosed.
Important to Note: The PII does not include any individual’s actual personal information or provide access to their records and information. The PII only describes the type of personal information held by our County.
For questions about the PII directory, contact Cindy Mawhinney, the Information Governance Coordinator | Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Coordinator at 780-307-0533 or Email Cindy
