Programs and Funding

We are committed to helping residents and organizations take advantage or available funding to reduce energy use and work toward more efficient and renewable systems. If you are looking to upgrade your lighting, improving insulation, installing solar panels or retrofitting your farm equipment, there are different grants, rebates, and potential financing options available from federal, provincial and municipal partners.

Residential (Homes)

Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP): Financing tool that helps homeowners and businesses compete energy upgrades, like insulation, heat pumps, solar PV, and windows, and pay back the cost through their property tax over time. - Westlock County is currently exploring this and it is not yet available to residents/businesses.
FortisAlberta - Save Energy Grants: Rebates for lighting, heating, and appliance upgrades. (Open January 1 - April 30, July 1 - September 30)
ATCO Energy Efficiency Programs: Rebates for smart thermostats, insulation, and efficient appliances. (Open all year round)
Buildings Retrofits Initiative: Financing for deep energy retrofits and decarbonization of residential and mixed-use buildings (Active and Ongoing)
Greener Neighborhoods Pilot Program (GNPP): Aggregated deep-energy retrofits for groups of homes or entire neighborhoods. (Active)
Eco Programs: Premium refunds and incentives for climate-friendly, energy-efficient housing. (Active)

Farms/Agri-Processing

Farm Energy & Agri-Processing Program (FEAP): Rebates for high-efficiency grain dryers, pumps, and processing equipment. (Open)
FCC AgriSpirit Fund: Annual capital grants for rural community and farm projects. (Reopens mid 2026)

Businesses

Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) - SEMI: 100% funding for energy-management and deep-retrofit projects. (Open March 2027)
ERA - Industrial Transformation Challenge: Supports industrial decarbonization pilots. (Open Spring 2026)

Alberta Innovates - International Technology Partnership Program (ITP): Up to $250,000 for SMEs collaborating internationally on clean-tech innovation. (Open)

NRCan - Energy Innovation Program (EIP): Funds emerging clean-energy technologies and demonstration projects. (Active)
